DESCRIPTION

BENEFITS
Position Summary The Flag Football Coach is responsible for coaching, coordination, fund-raising, and administration of activities associated with the College’s flag football program. Conducts athletic activities in accordance with respective rules, regulations, and policies of the College and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC), and the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

SALARY:

 $21,500 in a nine (9) month period. Part-time positions are posted based on the possible availability of a future assignment which are sporadic and may not occur. Available positions are contingent upon enrollment and instructional needs of the College. The position will be based initially at the Wallace Campus in Dothan. More than one position in the same job classification may be filled from the applicants for this position should another vacancy occur during the search process. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Flag Football Operations. Keeps current on and helps ensure that the College’s flag football program stays in full compliance with related rules and regulations of NJCAA, ACCC, and Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees. Responsible for the administration of all aspects of an NJCAA flag football program including recruitment and retention of student-athletes; grant-in-aid recommendations; academic integrity; fiscal management; scheduling; compliance with NJCAA, ACCC, and College rules and regulations.
Keeps Director, Student and Campus Services informed of all aspects of the team’s needs.
Attends division, state, and regional meetings that relate to the team.
Encourages players to excel in all enrolled courses.
Monitors the academic progress of all players.
Completes and submits all players’ eligibility reports and forms as required.
Works closely with the Athletics Director on the development of annual budgets.
Operates department within budgetary limits.
Performs fundraising activities to ensure necessary funding for the sport.
Completes, processes, and provides timely copies of all athletic insurance-related forms and paperwork to the Athletics Director.
Manages all equipment purchases (purchases of uniforms consistent with WCC Athletic licensing and color guides including equipment care and yearly inventory)
Develops competitions under policy and budget guidelines, to include the arrangement of transportation, meals, and lodging for competitions off campus.
Maintains professional and ethical academic standards.
Participatesactivelyinstaffdevelopmentandprofessionalgrowthprograms.
Assistsstudent-athleteswithtransfersupporttofour-yearathleticprograms.
Creates a quality program to attract students and student-athletes to attend the College.
Maintains the physical conditioning program of the student-athletes during both there regular and off-season.
Coordinates community service activities and projects for student-athletes and team.
Assists with nominations for conference and national athletic awards with the ACCC and NJCAA.
Monitors team and individual statistical submittals to conference and national offices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Recruitment. Performs recruiting duties for flag football program and the College. Recruits student-athletes for WCC, hosts visits, assists in finding living quarters for athletes, assists in admitting athletes to the College, and determines scholarship recipients.
Travels to as appropriate to observe potential athletes.
Publicize information on upcoming athletic events, camps, award recipients, and achievements of individual student athletes and teams.
Coordinate community service activities and projects for flag football team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

College Expectations. Dependability, attendance, punctuality, and a commitment to do the job right are essential at all times. Reports to work on time, at appropriate workstation or department during all departmental/position scheduled work days and during all departmental/position scheduled work hours. Understand that failure to report for work and/or reporting late without prior approval are unacceptable practices and will result in disciplinary action.

Ensures that service to students and the general public is top priority.
Demonstrates a considerate, friendly, respectful and constructive attitude toward fellow employees and students.
Adheres to all College and System policies and procedures.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate degree from an accredited institution is required.
Knowledge of flag football rules and mechanics of the sport is required.
Ability to coordinate flag football activities, such as hosting tournaments is required. Possess Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or have ability to possess CDL within two (2) year of employment is required.
Ability to work non-standard hours and extended hours as necessary is required. Bachelors degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
Formal experience coaching at the high school level or above is preferred. Experience in a secondary or post-secondary educational setting is preferred. Available positions are contingent upon enrollment and the instructional needs of the College. All initial interviews will be conducted in person and applicants must travel at their own expense.
