Position Summary The Head Men’s Basketball Coach under administrative direction, provides quality coaching and instruction to students participating in the basketball program; develop, implement, and teach related basketball program curriculum; enforce safety regulations and procedures through supervision of students; ensure NJCAA rules and regulation compliance; recruit student athletes who can achieve academic and athletic success; and instruct students in activities designed to promote intellectual growth. Provides administrative supervision and oversight for weekend residence hall operations to include supervision of residential assistants (RAs) and student workers; conducting health and safety inspections, and enforcing residential regulations and guidelines.

Please note:

In addition to coaching responsibilities, this position includes shared duties as the Weekend Residential Hall Associate, comprising approximately 50% of the role.

 Appropriate placement on the Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule C3-2: (Salary range: $45,555 – $95,629)

HEAD MEN’S BASKETBALL COACH

Develop and maintain a competitive and attractive basketball program.
Recruit quality prospective student athletes.
Ensures timely submission of their academic records and student fees to complete the admissions process.
Provide guidance with campus processes such as registration, financial aid, and residential life.
Assist with ensuring the ongoing eligibility of the athletes and monitoring their academic progress.
Monitors and maintains the discipline and conduct of student athletes to support the image and reputation of the College and the athletics program.
Implement academic or disciplinary action plans through the appropriate staff when needed.
Enforce safety regulations and procedures through supervision of students involved in the program.
Schedule and supervise workout sessions, team practices, and competition activities.
Assist in scheduling team activities, including a competition schedule, arranging for officials for the sporting events, team travel, accommodations, and meals.
Promotes the College, softball team, and athletic program through community events, public speaking, fundraising, and marketing.
Coordinates community service involvement for coaches and student-athletes.
Visit the area high school athletic events to observe and recruiting outstanding athletes.
Serve when requested as a speaker at high school and other community functions.
Regularly host tryouts for recruits for athletic teams.
Assist with conflict resolution.
Assist with the development of positive interpersonal relationships, including campus integration with other students and faculty.
Manage inventory of and care for athletic equipment, uniforms, and supplies.
Work with the Associate Dean of Students in developing the basketball program’s annual budget, monitoring expenditures, including allocation of scholarships.
Plans coaching and practice sessions in accordance with College, NJCAA, and Conference regulations.
Comply with Southern Union, NJCAA, and ACCS policies and procedures regarding rules and regulations.
Commit to working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Represent the athletic department as a positive role model for student athletes.
Represent the institution professionally and positively on and off campus.
Work non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends.
Perform other duties as needed.

WEEKEND RESIDENTIAL HALL ASSOCIATE

Ensure compliance with safety codes and regulations in the dorms.
Inform residents of regulations regarding safety, security, and emergency procedures.
Schedule special drills for emergency situations such as fire or tornado, and maintain required documentation.
Perform other duties as requested by the Associate Dean of Student Affairs. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required. Postsecondary experience coaching men’s basketball is required.
Supervisory experience working in a residential setting is required.
Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, rules and regulations of athletic associations and conferences required.
