Full Job Description Description Summary:

This position reports to the Head Volleyball Coach and is responsible for assisting with volleyball coaching duties, operating under NCAA bylaws. Assist the Head Volleyball Coach with recruitment and training for training for athletic competition, and participates in the overall coordination of the program, as appropriate.

Examples of Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists head volleyball coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition. Assists in the identification and recruitment of potential student-athletes for the volleyball program, in accordance with NCAA rules, regulations, guidelines, and standards. Represents the needs of various health care and community coalitions to local and state governments, institutions of higher education, health care organizations, community groups, prospective funding agencies, and the media. Serves as principal point of liaison for specified national and/or international health promotion networks or agencies: collaborates with internal and external constituencies in the strategic planning of international health promotion programs. Provides guidance and assistance to student-athletes on a range of personal issues, as required. Leads, monitors, and coordinates training and practice sessions, ensuring that all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained. Provides day-to-day guidance, assistance, and support to assistant coaches on coaching practices and techniques. Provides assistance in the coordination and administration of the overall program, as required. Represents the sports program to various institutional programs and externally to the media, government agencies, funding agencies, students, parents, and the general public. Performs other duties as assigned. Typical Qualifications Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.):

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree.

Experience:

At least three (3) years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Knowledge of applicable team or individual playing rules. Knowledge of NCAA student-athlete academic eligibility requirements. Knowledge of NCAA recruiting rules. Knowledge of travel/lodging planning and scheduling. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated competitive coaching skills in area of sporting specialty. Organizing and coordinating skills. Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in area of expertise. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.

Other Conditions of Employment:

The scope of the position requires travel, weekend and evening work; maximum work load. Valid driver’s license. Ability to travel for matches and tournaments. Compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations. Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and /or loud noises.
