Head Baseball Coach Arkansas State University Three Rivers 1 College Cir, Malvern, AR 72104 Job Summary The Head Baseball Coach leads and oversees all aspects of the baseball program, including recruiting, training, and game strategy. Develops and implements a comprehensive training programs to enhance player skills and performance. Fosters a positive and supportive team culture that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth. Ensures compliance with league regulations and maintain a safe and inclusive environment for student-athletes. Essential Job Functions

  • Plan, organize, lead, and direct a Division
II NJCAA

sport program (baseball). This includes but is not limited to the following: recruiting, scheduling, practice and game coaching, strategy, administration, compliance, budgeting etc.

  • Provide and maintain a safe, inclusive, productive, and effective team environment on and off the field. Motivate student-athletes to perform on the field and in the classroom.
  • Assist the Athletic Director, Game Manager, and Sports Information Personnel in any required event management. Events may range from competition events, fund raisers, or other school projects.
  • Assist with compliance issues and help monitor academic eligibility in coordination with our compliance personnel and/or Athletic Director.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of NJCAA and Region II rules and complete mandatory certification test as required.
  • Aids the Athletic Director in developing budget, facility management, marketing, and program planning.
  • Oversee and maintain the baseball facilities in college ownership or in lease agreements.
  • Monitor gender equity issues within the department.
  • Assist the Athletic Director with internal/HR hiring procedures.
  • Attend all required meetings as set forth by the NJCAA and Three Rivers.
  • Candidates must be willing to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License to transport athletes as needed or required by the college.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and/or administration.
  • Working closely with ASU System leaders to liaise with the Arkansas Department of Higher Education, Arkansas Department of Finance & Administration, Arkansas Legislative Council and the Arkansas legislative Audit.
  • Provide financial oversite for all auxiliary operations including the Ritz, Athletics, Bookstore and Foundation.
  • Prepare required reports for the Chancellor, Board of Visitors, Board of Trustees, ASU System Office, governmental grants, legislative requests, or other reporting as requested Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of baseball techniques, strategies, and rules.
  • Familiarity with NJCAA regulations and eligibility requirements.
  • Knowledge of strength and conditioning programs tailored to baseball athletes.
  • Awareness of safety protocols and injury prevention practices.
  • Understanding of recruitment processes and scouting procedures.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills to inspire athletes and staff.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with players, parents, and college administration.
  • Organizational skills for managing team schedules, practices, and budgets.
  • Ability to analyze game footage and develop improvement strategies.
  • Proficiency in using sports-related technology and tools, such as video analysis software.
  • Build and maintain a positive team culture that emphasizes academic and athletic success.
  • Develop and implement strategic game plans and training programs.
  • Recruit and retain student-athletes who meet both academic and athletic standards.
  • Manage and adapt to diverse team dynamics.
  • Represent the college professionally at athletic and community events. Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor Degree in related field
  • Minimum 2 years related coaching experience Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master Degree in preferred Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment Work is primarily, but not exclusively, in a climate-controlled office with little to no exposure to environmental or work hazards. The position requires average agility and good physical condition. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy materials weighing up to approximately 25 to 30 pounds. Work may require lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, and other physical exertion. Some in-and out-of-state travel may be required.
