Position Summary Trinity is a highly selective, independent, nonsectarian liberal arts institution located in the capital city of Hartford, Connecticut. Trinity College, located in Hartford, CT, invites applications for the position of Men’s Club Ice Hockey Coach. This is a part-time, hourly position not eligible for benefits.
The Trinity College Men’s Club Ice Hockey program is a newly formed competitive team involved with the Northeast Collegiate Hockey Association (NECHA) and the American Club Hockey Association (ACHA). Although Trinity College is not a full member of NECHA at this time. The Men’s Club Ice Hockey program is being considered for review under a probationary period.
The position will report to the Director of Recreation.

Responsibilities:

Develop a training and practice regiment for the club; develop a competitive program working with the current student captains and E-board to ensure a positive athletic experience, hold club athletes accountable, uphold the Trinity College Club Sports policies and procedures.

Other responsibilities include:

Provide feedback on hockey strategies, player development, game lineups, and overall team management.
Formulate and execute game plans for all team games. Must also have the ability to organize practice, such as organizing drills and helping players develop their skills.
Help maintain team’s positive relations with USA Hockey, ACHA, and NESCHA players’
Represent Trinity College in a manner that is consistent with the mission of the College.
Management of student participants by reinforcing their commitment to academic performance while balancing participation on an extracurricular team.
Presence at all practices and games. This may include evenings, weekends, and travel to out-of-town games/tournaments
Ability to work early mornings and late nights based on given ice time from the Koeppel Community Sports Center. Qualifications High School Diploma required
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Prior high school or collegiate coaching experience is preferred
First Aid/AED/CPR certification
Safe-sport certified through USA Hockey (will need to take a refresher course annually).
Must have USA Hockey Coach’s Certifications between level 1 and level 4 (will have to certify every year)
Job will entail 1-2 practices per week and 1-2 games per week/weekend once the season begins
Ability to travel with the team and stay overnight for away games as needed
Work approximately 10 hours per week (more time allocated for travel to away games as needed) between the months of late August and March.
