Full-Time Welcome to Oakwood Sports Center, Glastonbury’s premier destination for sports and entertainment. As part of the National Sport Group (NSG) family, we are proud to be one of Connecticut’s most historic indoor sports facilities, with a rich legacy dating back to the 1970s. Our recent major renovations in the summer of 2024, including a brand-new kitchen and renovated bar, have modernized our amenities while preserving the history that has been built over the past 50 years.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Basketball Trainer to develop players’ skills, fitness, and understanding of the game. With two full sized courts open multiple times a week, trainers will work with athletes of various ages and skill levels, providing individual and group instruction to improve performance, build confidence, and encourage sportsmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct basketball training sessions, drills, and practices.
- Teach fundamental and advanced basketball techniques, including shooting, passing, dribbling, defense, and conditioning.
- Create individualized improvement plans for athletes based on skill assessment.
- Monitor and evaluate athletes’ progress; provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure a safe and supportive training environment.
- Educate players on game rules, strategies, and mental preparedness.
- Assist with organizing scrimmages, camps, clinics, and showcases.
- Maintain equipment and ensure the training facility is clean and organized.
- Motivate players to achieve their full potential both on and off the court.
- Stay updated with modern training techniques, injury prevention strategies, and basketball trends.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a basketball coach or trainer.
- Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, game strategies, and player development.
- Excellent communication and motivational skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).
- Experience working with youth or adult athletes in a coaching or training capacity.
- Patience, discipline, and a passion for teaching the game.

Wage:
Experienced trainers with following, revenue share models are available. This position may require long hours, including evenings and weekends during the season. The trainers will work primarily in an indoor environment and may need to handle physically demanding tasks. How to
