Role:

The Skilled Trades Carpentry Instructor at the Jacksonville Goodwill Vocational Training Center, will play a pivotal role in empowering individuals through hands-on training in pre-apprentice residential carpentry skills. This position is designed to equip participants with the practical skills and knowledge necessary to pursue a career in a residential construction field such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and more. The instructor will develop and implement comprehensive training programs that cater to diverse learning styles and backgrounds, ensuring that all participants can achieve their full potential. By fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment, the instructor will help build confidence and self-sufficiency among participants. Ultimately, the goal is to facilitate successful transitions into the workforce, contributing to the overall mission of social assistance and community development.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Proven 5 years’ experience in carpentry trade, with relevant certifications. Previous teaching or training experience, preferably in a vocational setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in education, vocational training, or a related field. Experience working with diverse populations, including at-risk youth or adults. Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design.

Responsibilities:

Design and deliver engaging curriculum and training sessions in residential carpentry. Assess participants’ skills and progress, providing constructive feedback and support. Maintain a safe and organized workshop environment, ensuring all equipment is in good working order. Collaborate with other staff members to create a holistic support system for participants.
