Job Description:

Coordinates and coaches the swim age group program which includes all 14 and under developmental and competitive groups. This is a professional coaching position, and all of the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of Montverde Academy. This full time position works 10 months from August to May. The hours Monday through Friday are TBD, with set hours on Saturday 8:00 am – 11:00 am. the head Age Group Coach reports to the Head Swim Coach and Program Director. Primary Responsibilities Supervise and manage a team of 1 to 3 assistant age group coaches (including the learn to swim instructors) Develop opportunities to build team spirit, culture, and community. Maintain, improve, and ensure the implementation of the Age Group curriculum throughout all 14 and under groups except Senior. Plans, manages, and executes the yearly events calendar for the age group division. Planning and execution of 4 intra squad meets, 3 social events, and 2 stroke clinics per year. Guide the assistant coaches on implementing the swim curriculum for all 14 and under groups. New athletes recruiting actions including advertising, clinics, summer camps. Meet entries using Team Unify. Communicate regularly and professionally with coaches, parents, and participants Evaluate new swimmers to determine appropriate training level placement Track swimmers’ progress and determine readiness for promotion to the next level. Attend swim meets for 14 and under swimmers (typically 1 every 4 weeks). Staff scheduling for 14 and under swim meets and practices. Assist with facility set-up and break-down for practices and competitions Attend all meetings scheduled by the Head Coach or the Director of Aquatic Operations Participate in professional development sessions and coach clinics as requested Assist with the senior group as needed. Expectations Willingness to work on an athlete centered team Passion for the sport Punctual Minimum Qualifications 4+ years experience working with competitive age group swimmers Able to manage and organized age 14 and under swimmers of varied levels Hold valid and current USA Swimming Coach Credentials Have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive Must commit to days/times indicated in job classification Must be able to lift 50 pounds/May be required to sit and stand for extended periods of time
