This is a professional coaching position, and all the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of Montverde Academy. The position works a 12-month schedule.
Primary Responsibilities:
Oversees day to day operations, direction, promotion, and programming for Girls Basketball Promotes and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport Manages and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship. Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities Coaches and instructs players, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport Monitor academic progress and status of students, supporting action plans Organizes, prepares, and conducts individual and team practices, training, and competition Provides day-to-day guidance, assistance, and support to Basketball coaches on coaching practices and techniques. Assigns duties to assistant coaches as necessary. Manages the use, care, and distribution of team equipment and uniforms Represents the sports program to various institutional programs and externally to the media, students, parents, and the general public Provides assistance in the coordination and administration of the overall program, as required. Ability to use first-aid/CPR skills and follows established procedures in the event injury. Communicate effectively with the athletic administration, athletics staff, MVA School Deans, faculty, administrative assistants, transportation, dining hall, admissions, and custodians. Supports and demonstrates appropriate interaction to enhance interdepartmental relations by attending non-athletic events Determines high school game schedule in collaboration with the Director of Athletic Operations Work closely with the Montverde Academy College Counseling office on college placement Represents Montverde Academy in a professional manner Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university Demonstrated knowledge of FHSAA rules and regulations At least 10+ years of experience in coaching High School or College Girls Basketball. A demonstrated commitment to the academic success of student-athletes. CPR/First Aid Certified, up to date NFHS Coaching Certificates Valid driver’s license required and ability to get a CDL U.S. Center for SafeSport Certification Physical requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the Academy’s facilities.
