Job Description The Fitness & Recreation Coach/Instructor position will oversee development and implementation of ASAS’ Summer daily recreation activities. This is the ideal position for dynamic youth development professionals who are eager to prepare youth for success in school, career, and life. We are seeking a passionate and energetic Fitness & Recreation Coach with a strong background in physical education, sports coaching, or related fields, and a genuine love for working with youth. As a Coach, you will be responsible for creating a fun, engaging, and safe environment for students to develop their physical skills and confidence through various activities. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy teaching and inspiring young minds while promoting health and fitness. The successful candidate will be able to effectively implement the 7-week summer programming with creative passion. Instructors are responsible for managing the recreation fields and spaces, ensuring students’ safety, and facilitating daily instruction. Instruction and coaching responsibilities require presence at the FIU Biscayne Bay Campus (3000 NE 151st ST, North Miami, FL 33181) during program hours, Monday through Friday from 9:00am-3:30pm (specific hours for instruction will vary).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and implement age-appropriate physical activities that promote fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Teach fundamental skills in various sports and physical activities. Supervise students during activities to ensure safety and adherence to rules. Foster a positive learning environment that encourages participation promotes health and builds self-esteem. Provide guidance on proper techniques in physical activities. Set up and breakdown activities games and programs. May serve as a sports official, score keeper, or coach during youth or teen sports. Travel with students for planned field trips and special events. Maintain professional and positive relationships with

staff, camp counselors, site management, partners, students, parents and volunteers.

REQUIREMENTS
Associate’s required, Bachelor’s in physical education, recreation or related field preferred. Experience in teaching physical education or coaching sports is preferred. One-plus years’ experience working with high school students The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills and a passion for teaching youth. A background in working with youth in a recreational setting is highly desirable. Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate students of varying skill levels. A positive attitude, patience, and enthusiasm for working with youth are essential.
