JOB SUMMARY:
The Youth Sports Coach will specialize in baseball, softball, basketball, and soccer to help create a fun, safe, and supportive sporting experience for youth participants. In this role, the coach will be responsible for designing and implementing basic sports strategies, leading team practices, organizing games, and fostering player development in a recreational sports setting. Coaches serve as mentors to young athletes, promoting safety, fair play, and teamwork throughout the season.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Lead Practice Sessions:
Schedule, organize, and conduct engaging and effective team practices.
Promote Team Unity:
Foster a positive atmosphere that encourages sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.
Skill Development:
Help participants improve their athletic abilities while emphasizing safety, inclusion, and enjoyment.
Manage Sideline Conduct:
Promote appropriate behavior among players and parents during practices and games. Represent the

Attend meetings, conferences, and community forums as needed. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Sports Program Manager or Director.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Strong understanding of basic sports rules, coaching techniques, and team dynamics. Experience working with children and/or in a youth sports coaching role (preferred). Prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple responsibilities. Lead and motivate youth participants while creating an inclusive environment. Make sound decisions under pressure with a focus on safety and development. Handle confidential matters with discretion. Build and maintain effective relationships with parents, staff, and community members. Strong written and verbal communication. Effective organizational and time-management skills. Conflict resolution and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to clearly present information to individuals and groups.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Associate degree in a relevant field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a coaching or youth development role, with proven leadership ability. Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse groups. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed. Successful completion of a Level 2 background check.
