1455-280 Job Description The Assistant Coach reports to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach and assists in the administration of all phases of the Women’ s Basketball program in accordance with NCAA Division I rules and philosophies. Three positions will be hired from this posting. All positions will have the job functions and responsibilities as noted below. In addition, one of the positions will be the main recruiting coordinator, one will be the main scouting and player development position, and another will be the main travel and equipment point of contact.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Employment duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Assist the Head Women’s Basketball Coach in the administration of all aspects of the basketball program
Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student athletes
Participate in pre- and post-season on the floor coaching
Participate in on- and off-campus recruiting visits
Work closely with admissions, housing, and other campus entities relative to Women’s Basketball
Serve as academic advisor concerning class registration and continued progress toward degree
Coordinate practice schedule in conjunction with Men’s Basketball and Volleyball
Participate in public relations, community outreach, fund-raising, and promotional activities
Assist in game planning and practice planning
Represent Stetson University by adhering to high moral code and appropriate ethical standards
Perform other site and position specific functions as assigned
Required Skills

Conference, and Stetson University as required
Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, alumni, program boosters, the public, and administrative staff
Ability to recruit, coach, and teach a wide skill range of athletes the fundamentals and theories of basketball
Support the University’s Mission and Values in their role
Required Experience
A bachelor’s degree required
1-2 years demonstrated college playing and/or coaching Women’s Basketball
Experience with day-to-day administrative and operational responsibilities including but not limited to implementation of running and workout programs, budget management, professional development, NCAA rules and regulations, organization skills, and supporting the educational goals and ideals of the members of the women’s basketball program
Desire to join a distinct university community committed to inclusive excellence, kindness, and collaboration, as it seeks to move Forward Together in making our community and world a better place
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as determined by the University’s auto insurance carrier.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

A master’s degree preferred
Ability to lead with integrity and positively influence the lives and athletic careers of the student-athletes on the Women’s Basketball team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Superb organization skills to effectively manage and lead Women’s Basketball program

Work Environment:

Duties require: both indoor and outdoor work; direct exposure to prevailing weather, extreme heat, humidity, and extreme cold; physical ability to endure physically strenuous work-outs and physical exercise on a daily basis, including standing and/or walking for long periods, bending, stooping, lifting; manual dexterity; lifting of up to fifty pounds; ability to work hours outside the normal University schedule; physical ability to travel; perceptual demands for sound, form, depth.
