Mercer University is seeking a full-time Strength & Conditioning Coach to assist in the development and monitoring of year-round team and individual Strength & Conditioning programs for intercollegiate athletes.
Responsibilities:
The Strength and Conditioning Coach will oversee Strength & Conditioning Programs for the sport teams assigned by the Director of Strength & Conditioning, which will be based on strengths and skills of the candidate. This position is expected to stay up to date on the cutting edge of the industry through constant pursuit of continued education. This position will also evaluate athlete’s strengths and weaknesses alongside the sport coach and develop plans to better equip the athletes for success through sound, fundamental strength and conditioning training principles and will periodically evaluate student athlete performance and establish good record-keeping by having proper documentation of all training and any evaluations/records of student athlete performance. The Strength and Conditioning Coach will promote the Mercer Strength & Conditioning Mission, Goals and Objectives and will assist in the constant pursuit of improvement in our department. This position will follow all rules and regulations of the NCAA, the Southern Conference and Mercer University.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or a related field and at least one year of prior experience working with team sports in a collegiate or professional setting are required. Additionally, at least one of the following certifications is required: Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) and/or Certified Strength Conditioning Specialists (CSCS). Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Strong administrative and communication skills; Ability to effectively communicate with university personnel, including coaches, student-athletes, support staff, and athletic administration; Must be knowledgeable, motivated and demonstrate a commitment to a safe, disciplined and competitive training environment; Organizational skills; Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Suite; Ability to lift 60 lbs. overhead with or without reasonable accommodation; Willingness to work on weekends, mornings, evenings and holidays.
