POSITION SUMMARY:
The Gymnastics Coach is responsible for the instruction of classes, coaching and preparing participants for competition. Daily functions include facilitation of team-related gymnastics classes and activities. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character – caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for developing program participants for competition Responsible for planning and facilitating age appropriate group gymnastics classes Travel to national conferences and seminars and represent the YMCA in these events Teaches specific gymnastic movements to class participants Maintains safe work environment and ensures the safety of all participants Attends required department and individual trainings. Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants Willingly perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS
Gymnastics certification or one to two years of gymnastics coaching and teaching preferred. Must be willing to obtain gymnastics certification within the timeframe indicated by manager and maintain certificate during course of employment. Sound working knowledge of accepted fitness standards and practices including gymnastic techniques. Ability to foster positive staff, peers, and program participants. CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines. Must be able to pass USA Gymnastics background and maintain USA Gymnastics membership.
