Job Summary The Head Women¿s Basketball Coach is responsible for the management of the Savannah State University women¿s basketball program management to include but not limited to coaching, recruiting, compliance, fiscal management, staffing, public relations and camps/clinics.

Responsibilities Administer the women¿s basketball program in accordance with Savannah State University, University System of Georgia (USG), National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), and Southern Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (SIAC) requirements Demonstrate sportsmanship and the highest level of personal integrity Prepare and organize daily practice sessions and game preparation for competition Organize and administer the recruiting of prospective student-athletes in accordance with the NCAA, Conference, and Savannah State University policies and procedures Coordinate with academic services to promote and monitor the academic development, progress and graduation of student-athletes Recommend and prepare the scheduling of all contests under the guidelines provided by budget, program scope, and all applicable departmental guidelines, rules and regulations Report all known or suspected violations of NCAA or conference regulations to the Compliance Office and/or the Athletic Director Track records such as, but not limited to, recruitment files, eligibility records, emergency data cards, and any records to support eligibility, academic progress, matriculation, and transfer to ensure that such records are compliant Remain dedicated to the university and its students by fostering their holistic success, encompassing both their academic achievements and their health and wellness Represent the University during fundraising and other civic events Sponsor or obtain sponsorship to participate in and conduct basketball camps/clinics Participate with team and staff during community service programs May be required to perform job related duties other than those specifically delineated in this position Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution Five (5) years of progressive and successful coaching experience at the high school/collegiate level OR Two (2) years of collegiate coaching experience One (1) year of training, internship, or leadership experience Master’s degree from an accredited institution, preferred Proposed Salary The proposed salary range – $75,000 to $85,000 Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge, application and compliance of NCAA, SIAC and University rules and regulations Knowledge of the University, USG, SIAC, and NCAA rules and regulations Knowledge of basketball coaching methods Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures Skill in decision making and problem solving Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public Skill in oral and written communication Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Ability to raise funds and promote the women¿s basketball program regionally and nationally Ability to work effectively with individuals from all backgrounds Ability to manage multiple priorities and functions Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle highly sensitive and personal information with sound judgement, tact and discretion Ability to recruit, develop, retain and graduate student-athletes Apply Before Date The application deadline is June 20, 2025.
