POSITION TITLE

Head Coach Varsity Volleyball – 210 day teacher contract

RESPONSIBLE TO

Athletic Director

RESPONSIBLE FOR

Helping each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Valid Teaching Certificate.

Experience:

Successful teaching and coaching experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved. Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.

Works closely with the athletic director in scheduling intramural and interscholastic contests. Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms, as appropriate. Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.

Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present. Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the sport.

Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students. Performs other duties as may be assigned by authorized personnel.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

Knowledge of athletic area and ability to teach skills in an acceptable manner. Skillful in interpersonal relationships. Knowledge of child growth and development. Uses sound judgement.

Physical Demands:

Frequent walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and equipment up to 25 pounds. Dexterity to write on a board, operate a computer, and use other classroom technology. Occasional bending, stooping, and reaching. Clear speech and hearing abilities for effective communication. Visual acuity to read printed and digital materials.
