Drew Charter School is proud to announce the launch of its inaugural GHSA-sanctioned Varsity Swim Team for the 2025-2026 school year. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Swim Coach to lead this exciting new program. This coach will play a foundational role in developing a competitive, student-centered team culture that aligns with Drew Charter’s mission of academic excellence, character development, and athletic integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement effective swim training sessions for student-athletes of varying skill levels Coordinate and supervise all team practices, meets, and travel in alignment with GHSA and school policies Provide technical instruction in all swim strokes, turns, starts, and overall race strategy Foster a positive team environment that promotes discipline, teamwork, personal growth, and sportsmanship Monitor academic eligibility and provide mentorship to support student-athletes’ success in and out of the pool Manage meet entries, athlete registration, and compliance with all GHSA requirements Collaborate with the Athletics Department and YMCA or local facility to manage lane space, scheduling, and pool logistics Communicate regularly with families, athletic trainers, administrators, and other stakeholders Support recruitment and retention of swimmers, including engagement with students from Drew’s middle school pipeline
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior coaching experience in competitive swimming (high school, club, or collegiate level) Knowledge of stroke technique, training principles, and race preparation Current Lifeguard/CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start) Excellent leadership, communication, and time-management skills Familiarity with GHSA swim guidelines and meet management platforms (e.g., Meet Manager, TeamUnify) is a plus Experience fostering inclusive and supportive athletic environments for student-athletes
Requirements:
Completion of GHSA Lay Coach Certification (or willingness to complete prior to season start) Availability for after-school practices, morning workouts, and weekend meets Ability to travel to and from competition sites and manage team logistics
Start Date:
Fall 2025 – aligned with the GHSA Swim & Dive season
Compensation Stipend:
$4,000
