Job Description
Loyola University New Orleans is looking for a head coach to launch the men’s and women’s rugby programs. This individual will spend a year recruiting and then the teams will officially begin competition in the 2026-2027 academic year. Reporting to the Athletic Director, the individual will be responsible for the total operation of the men’s and women’s rugby teams. Responsibilities will include all duties normally associated with being the head coach of an intercollegiate rugby program including, but not limited to, recruiting, coaching, budget management, organization of training, practices and competitions, academic monitoring and other duties as assigned. Additional expectations of this position include mentoring of student-athletes and commitment to their academic progress and degree completion; knowledge of and commitment to all governing body and institutional rules and regulations; game administration duties; and some departmental and campus committee work/involvement. Candidates must demonstrate significant knowledge of rugby; proven success in coaching rugby at the collegiate or professional level; the ability to recruit, develop and motivate student-athletes; and a strong commitment to the academic success of student-athletes. The successful candidate must also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and strong leadership skills. A bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) and valid driver’s license are required. Loyola University New Orleans is partnering with the consultants at Bechler Leadership for this search.
