Full Job Description Job Summary:

BB&N is seeking a head varsity lacrosse coach for the boys’ team. This is a stipend, part-time position during the spring season for the 2025-2026 school year. Responsibilities include all aspects of team organization, including practice planning and administrative tasks. The head coach will provide examples of fair play, team building, character building, and respect for the players. The BB&N Athletic Department expects its coaches to operate within the athletic philosophy of BB&N and adhere to the BB&N coaches’ manual as well as the Independent School League (ISL) and the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) rules and guidelines. Responsibilities include but are not limited to planning and overseeing practice and games, mentoring and instructing players in skill development, character development, and teamwork, communicating with parents/guardians relevant information regarding games, practices, and other team commitments, and supporting and developing those students with an ability and/or desire to compete at the collegiate level.

In addition, the ideal candidate will demonstrate: Commitment to the academic success and character development of the students Passion for their sport and for working with middle and high school aged students Commitment to an inclusive and equitable approach to all student athletes Communicates effectively and responsibly with students, parents and colleagues High standards of professional conduct

Essential Functions and Key Objectives:

Identify potential student athletes who are mission appropriate for BB&N Motivate and develop each athlete’s skills, attitudes, and habits, guiding them toward academic success, leadership, and motivation to excel Teach skill techniques and help athletes prepare for competitive events Advise and mentor student athletes with skill and desire to compete at the collegiate level Attend all BB&N practices, at home and away matches, in-school events, and other related athletics functions Model positive behavior, maintain a supportive environment, and exhibit a high level of professionalism Work collaboratively with other coaches, parents, and community members Adhere to the school’s athletic philosophy as well as the Independent School League (ISL) and the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) rules and guidelines Attend Independent School League (ISL) and New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) lacrosse meetings Seek assistance should emergencies arise Upper School Coaching Schedule All Coaches Meeting on Monday, August 25th Admissions Recruiting events will be held throughout the year before Pre-season practices start March 5th and the season ends May 23rd, 2026. Spring Varsity teams take pre-season trips around March 20th to March 28th. Weekly practices range from 3:45pm to 6:00pm, with an occasional morning practice. Spring Holidays when school is not in session include: March 13th to March 29th. Varsity teams typically take Spring Break trips the second week of break.

Patriots Day Memorial Day Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises the behavior of students on school grounds, and when traveling to opposing teams’ campuses for games. Supervises students while on the bus; maintains safety and order on the bus.
