Job Description
Strength & Conditioning Coach Groton School 282 Farmers Row, Groton, MA 01450 Groton School is seeking a Strength & Conditioning Coach to oversee strength and conditioning for all sports and all students involved in conditioning activity, revolving around three components: improving athletic performance, reducing injuries, and cultivating a life-long appreciation for health and fitness. Reporting to the Director of Sports Medicine, the Strength and Conditioning Coach will craft a training curriculum, assess athletes, educate coaches, and supervise conditioning class while collaborating with coaches to determine team needs. The position is part-time (approximately 29 hours per week) for the duration of the academic year (10 months). Responsibilities and Duties Craft and implement strength training and conditioning programs pre-season, in-season, and off-season for school athletic programs. Work with athletic training staff in the rehabilitation of injured athletes. Collaborate with Athletic Department Staff, coaches, faculty, and staff. Plan and implement policies and guidelines for the strength and conditioning program in conjunction with NSCA Strength and Conditioning Professional Standards and Guidelines. Design methods for tracking attendance and progress in conditioning class. Write student comments (evaluations) on conditioning class students. Offer pre-season overview and post season review for each coach and program. Conduct annual risk management review. Help provide proposal for routine maintenance, equipment purchase, and staffing and facility needs. Serve as professional development resource for coaches. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field An up-to-date professional certification (e.g., NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) Up-to-date First Aid, CPR, AED certifications. Excellent knowledge and teaching skills in analysis and techniques of strength training. Ability to demonstrate fundamental skills and techniques to be used by athletes. 1-3 years’ experience working with high school or college age students. Inclusive approach to teaching and educating Strong communications skills—speaking and writing Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide array of constituents (students, coaches, staff, faculty, health care providers) Desire and openness to develop and grow as a professional
