General Function The Greenwood JFORCE Dance Team Coach is responsible for leading, organizing, and developing a high-performing and spirited dance team. This role includes overseeing practices, choreographing advanced routines, managing team dynamics, and fostering a positive, disciplined, and inclusive environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about dance, leadership, and student development Description of Primary Duties 1.Collaborate on Key Decisions Work directly with the team/school leadership on all major team decisions. Coordinate with leadership on practice and performance schedules, competition decisions, events, choreography direction, and team rules. Attend leadership meetings as requested. Collaborate with the team/school leadership to set goals and manage the overall direction of the dance program. 2. Provide Technical Instruction • Plan and lead all practices, technique classes, conditioning sessions and choreography rehearsals • Choreograph or coordinate Pom, Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Game Day routines Clean and refine routines choreographed by outside instructors Conduct conditioning and pre-season training sessions, including summer camps and any pre-season training. Obtain and maintain a coaching certification through the Universal Dance Association (UDA) 3. Attend & Supervise All Team Events Attend all school performances, pep rallies, games, assemblies, spirit events, and showcases where JForce is performing Supervise and guide dancers at all events where JFORCE represents the school Travel with the team to all scheduled performances and camps, including the Blue & Gold Tournament (held after Christmas, a 4-day event) Travel with the team to regional and national competitions, when applicable (Nationals participation is not guaranteed annually and will be determined by the team/school leadership, in collaboration with the Coach Take lead responsibility for competition logistics, including music, registration, paperwork, and communications 4. Attend Celebrations and Speak on Behalf of the Team Attend the Team Christmas Party and End-of-Season Banquet Attend the Greenwood Sports Banquet each spring Speak on behalf of the team, providing a recap of the year’s accomplishments and experiences Attend team bonding events to foster community 5. Foster a Positive Team Culture Build relationships that are encouraging, inclusive, and team-focused among dancers Promote kindness, sportsmanship, teamwork, and mutual respect Address conflicts fairly, constructively, and professionally Set clear expectations around attendance, conduct and personal effort 6. Demonstrate Professional Conduct Communicate respectfully and clearly with dancers, parents, leadership, and school administration Always maintain confidentiality and professionalism Represent JFORCE in alignment with its mission and core values 7. Uphold a Supportive and Safe Environment Monitor dancers’ physical and emotional well-being Foster collaboration, team identity, confidence, and personal growth 8. Oversee Tryouts and Informational Meetings Organize and lead annual team tryouts, including judge selection and preparation of materials Host the JFORCE Informational Meeting for new and returning dancers Communicate team expectations, tryout requirements, and the selection process 9. Follow and Enforce JFORCE Rules & Regulations Understand, enforce, and uphold all team policies consistently Collaborate with leadership on disciplinary action when necessary Ensure high and equal application of rules for all team members 10. Children at Team Events Policy Coaches are asked not to bring their children to practices, to maintain focus and professionalism Children may attend games, performances, and competitions, if they do not interfere with coaching responsibilities or team focus Children must be supervised by an adult not affiliated with the team If a child causes a disruption, the coach is responsible for addressing it appropriately 11. Communication & Scheduling Coordinate the team’s practice, performance, and event schedule in collaboration with the team/school leadership Utilize school approved calendar system to share and maintain the team schedule Communicate updates via school approved communication channels Maintain clear, consistent, and professional communication 12. Practice Supervision and Athlete Safety Consistently arrive early to practices and performances and stay until all athletes have been safely picked up, ensuring no one is left unattended Minimum Acceptable Qualifications Prior working or leadership experience with youth or high school-aged teams or collegiate dance teams Experience in a coaching role Collegiate-level Pom experience or Elite High School dance team experience At least 10 years of technical dance training High School Diploma required Strong background in choreography and technical dance training Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor student-athletes Effective communication and organizational skills Ability to enforce team and school policies while maintaining a positive environment CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Must pass required school/district background checks Self-starter, able to complete assignments on time Understanding of UDA, their guidelines, competition rules, and structure. Professional approach and attitude.

UDA/Varsity Coaches Certificate Additional Qualifications Preferred Qualifications:

Experience competing or coaching in a competitive dance circuit (UDA, NDA, etc.) Previous experience with team management, fundraising, and event coordination Knowledge of safety protocols and physical conditioning for dancers Special Instructions to Applicants Attach UDA//Varsity coach certificate to application in “Certificate/License1” document type.
