The Division of Student Affairs advances the educational mission of the university through resources and experiences outside the classroom that prepare our students for lifelong success. Assists with the coaching, organization, administration and development of a successful college athletic program. Complies with all rules and regulations of the NCAA, the University Athletic Association, Washington University, as well as those of the respective team. This is a 10-month, full-time position during the months of August through May.

Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Assists in the planning and implementation of details in all aspects of the assigned sport’s program, including team organization and make-up, player selection and evaluations, practice planning and implementation, and game planning and strategy. Represents the university at campus, alumni, and community functions. Coaches/instructs team members individually, and in groups, and demonstrates sport-related skills and techniques. May coach/manage a designated skill development area or group of positions. Evaluates individual player’s skill performance and provides instruction in areas of deficiency as required. Reviews video footage to evaluate skills and determines needed areas of development. Supervises and organizes the assigned athletic program as determined by the Head Coach. Organizes and produces scouting reports/information on opponents in a manner determined by Head Coach. Assists with team discipline, player counseling and related matters requiring discretion, decision making, and independent judgment. Coordinates the recruitment of prospective students to Washington University, requiring the identification of academically qualified prospective student-athletes, ongoing communication with prospects, initiation of applications, and matriculation of prospects. Participates in the evaluation of high school talent through high school visits, on-site game observations at high school, regional, state, and national competitions, and film/video review and analysis. Teaches classes in the elective Physical Education program. Performs other duties as assigned by Head Coach and/or Athletic Director.
