Part-Time/Seasonal (Fall Sports Season) Carolina Day School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Varsity Head Field Hockey Coach to join our athletics team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Athletics Department, support and enhance all aspects of the field hockey program, with a focus on communication, player development, and program culture. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about field hockey and values building meaningful relationships with student-athletes. The Head Coach will play a key role in shaping the daily execution and long-term vision of the program.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement practice plans that build technical and physical skills appropriate for high school athletes. Lead and manage the team during practices and games ensuring competitive performance and sportsmanship. Oversee player development, including assessing skills, setting individual goals, and promoting academic and athletic growth. Collaborate with the athletic department on scheduling games. Maintain communication with players, parents, and school staff regarding team updates, expectations, and academic eligibility. Promote a positive team culture, emphasizing leadership, discipline, accountability, and respect.
Qualifications:
Previous coaching experience or high-level field hockey experience at the high school or collegiate level required Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to connect with and motivate student-athletes Demonstrated ability to contribute to a team-oriented coaching staff Passion for the sport of field hockey and a strong commitment to character development High energy, positive attitude, and a growth mindset
