This position will also promote the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program in a manner that advances the brand of High Point University. This position also communicates and evaluates the recruitment of prospective student-athletes
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred Experience and Training NCAA playing experience strongly preferred Coaching experience required Experience in scouting opponents
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
Proficient in the technical knowledge of their sport Capability to instruct student-athletes and increase their athletic performance Strong written and interpersonal communication skills Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations Ability to recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for creating and executing the program’s goals for all players. Creates individual development plans for each player Works with other coaches to provide/execute daily practice goals Schedules and executes all daily practice plans Have input and collaborates with the HC on personnel decisions (pre and during game) Assists in recruitment in all areas- maintain dialog and relationships with all recruits Attend weekly staff meetings and create scouting reports and present them weekly during the spring Instructs student-athletes, improving skills, sport performance and leadership Counsels team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters; assists in monitoring the academic progress and eligibility status of student-athletes Monitors the conditioning and training of student-athletes Maintains positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with students, students’ parents, faculty, co-workers and managers Other duties as assigned
