The ideal candidate will work with athletes of all skill levels, ages 4+, to teach proper tumbling technique in a safe, engaging, and progressive environment. Individual should be able to teach and spot skills up to all-star cheerleading levels 1-4. The coach will play an important role in athlete development, progression tracking, safety, and overall program success. This position is part of a positive, team-based coaching staff committed to growing strong athletes and stronger individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Athlete Development:
Plan and lead tumbling classes ranging from beginner rolls and cartwheels to advanced passes (e.g., back handsprings, tucks, layouts, fulls, arabians). Provide hands-on spotting and effective verbal instruction with a focus on technique, safety, and progression. Evaluate individual athlete ability and help set appropriate goals. Maintain consistent structure and expectations for every class or private session. Provide feedback and encouragement to build athlete confidence and skill retention.
Safety & Supervision:
Ensure the gym environment is safe and free of hazards before and during practice. Follow proper spotting protocols and injury-prevention guidelines. Immediately report any injuries or safety concerns to gym management. Supervise athletes during class time and maintain discipline in a positive, respectful way.
Team Support & Communication:
Collaborate with other tumbling and allstar coaches to support team needs. Be responsive and approachable to athletes and families, building positive relationships. Participate in occasional gym-wide events, exhibitions, or camps. Communicate clearly with directors about athlete progress, concerns, or scheduling issues.
Professionalism & Growth:
Be punctual, prepared, and consistent in attendance. Model respect, sportsmanship, and a strong work ethic for athletes. Be open to feedback and professional development opportunities. Stay current with trends in cheer tumbling and coaching practices.
Requirements:
Must-Have:
Previous experience teaching tumbling in a cheer, gymnastics, or acro setting. Strong knowledge of technique and athlete progression for levels 1-4. Ability to spot tumbling skills safely and effectively. Positive and patient communication skills with athletes and parents. Ability to work evenings (exact schedule TBD) and commit to consistent availability. Preferred (but not required): Experience working in an all-star cheerleading gym. Familiarity with all-star cheerleading Open Championships level progressions and safety rules. CPR/First Aid certification.
