$108K – $130K a year 1 day ago Qualifications CI/CD Azure Node.js React Full-stack development DevOps R Git Google Cloud Platform SQL AWS Database management Scripting Angular Django Software development Senior level Leadership Python Basketball Analytics Full Job Description The Director of Basketball Systems will oversee and manage the basketball software development team, ensuring the creation, maintenance, and advancement of the Charlotte Hornets’ basketball technology infrastructure. This role will play a pivotal part in integrating data-driven insights with basketball decision-making by leading the development of software solutions and overseeing maintenance of data pipelines. This role will be responsible for establishing best practices in software development, data engineering, and system integration while collaborating closely with the Basketball Analytics, Scouting, Strategy, Coaching, and Performance teams Core Values HSE embodies the following core values:

Supervise, mentor, and provide strategic direction to the basketball software development team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

System Architecture:

Oversee the design, development and deployment of software and data infrastructure supporting basketball analytics and operations.

Data Engineering & Integration:

Ensure the robustness and reliability of ETL/ELT pipelines, database management and cloud-based computing environments.

Software Development:

Guide the team in developing modern web tools that enhance basketball decision-making.

Collaboration & Communication:

Act as a liaison between software developers and basketball operations staff, translating analytical and technical concepts into actionable insights.

Process Optimization:

Establish and maintain best practices for software development, documentation, version control and DevOps.

Security & Compliance:

Ensure the integrity, security and confidentiality of all basketball-related software and data. Required Skills, Experience and Abilities To perform the job successfully, you will have or demonstrate the following skills and abilities Proven leadership experience in managing software developers, data engineers, or similar technical teams. Extensive knowledge of full-stack software development, database design and cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure Databricks). Expertise in modern web development frameworks (React, Angular, Node, Django, FastAPI, etc.). Strong proficiency in SQL and database management, ensuring data accessibility and reliability. Experience implementing DevOps best practices, CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (Git). Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, R) and data engineering methods. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively. A deep understanding of basketball analytics and its application in decision-making. High attention to detail, problem-solving skills and adaptability to a fast-paced work environment. Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and Hornets games Additional Information This is a full-time benefit eligible position.
