Full-Time, Twelve (12) Month Position Directly Reports to: Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach Job Purpose The assistant coach will be responsible for supporting the head coach in managing all aspects of a competitive and successful NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Golf program with the primary responsibility being the planning and instruction of golf. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to the academic success of the student-athletes in the program that leads to graduation through a positive collegiate experience. Duties and responsibilities Compliance with NCAA, SAC and Catawba College Policies and Regulations The assistant coach must be efficient at individualized and team instruction with emphasis on teaching all skills and strategies associated with the sport. Recruiting quality student athletes that are committed to the Catawba College mission within the allotted scholarship structure and limits Commitment to and the management of program budget Coordinate and maintain regular communication with Catawba athletics staff, including the Director of Athletics, Compliance, Sports Medicine, Media Relations, Video, Strength & Conditioning, and Facilities Operations Provide academic support for all student-athletes Assist the head coach with match scheduling Practice and meet planning and implementation Player development and evaluation Assist head coach in supervising an effective strength and conditioning program Assist head coach in managing travel (booking hotels, vans, buses, etc.) Developing and maintaining positive alumni relations Day to day program administration Actively assist with program fundraising and development of alumni and community relations Serve on campus and departmental committees as requested Other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required Successful collegiate coaching and golf experience is preferred Demonstrated expertise on course instruction and knowledge of the sport Ability to recruit student-athletes that will be successful in the classroom and on the course Ability to lead, mentor and motivate student-athletes Strong communication, organizational, problem solving and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to produce and assist in the management a competitive golf program are important Developing and maintaining positive alumni relations Current CPR and First Aid certification required Valid North Carolina driver’s license required How To Apply Interested candidates must send via email a letter of application, resume and contact information for three references to employment@catawba.edu and jsaltmar22@catawba.edu .
