Job Description Summary This position organizes, conducts and supervises all aspects of a Division II Men’s & Women’s Tennis teams, within the parameters designated by the University, Sunshine State Conference, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). This is a full-time, 12-month position that reports directly to the Director of Athletics, Wellness, & Recreation. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of tennis, and a commitment to the academic and athletic development of student-athletes.

Job Description Duties and Tasks:

Recruit, select, and retain high-caliber student-athletes for both men’s and women’s tennis teams. Plan/manage all competitions and practices of the program, including in-season and out-of-season player development. Promote a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth. Provide successful coaching, counsel and direction, to ensure that team members have the opportunity to realize their potential as athletes, students, and members of the general University community. Monitor and support the academic progress of student-athletes, emphasizing the importance of both athletic and academic success. Collaborate with academic support services to ensure student-athletes meet eligibility requirements. Stay informed and ensure compliance with all NCAA or relevant athletic association rules and regulations. Educate student-athletes on compliance matters and uphold the highest standards of integrity. Create positive support for the program within the campus community and outside constituencies including alumni, parents and friends of Saint Leo University. Adhere to NCAA Division II, SSC, and Saint Leo University rules and regulations, supporting the philosophy, goals, and mission of the University and its intercollegiate athletics program as well as adherence to departmental policies and procedures. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of coaching tactics and techniques. Well-developed interpersonal communication skills Ability to recruit student athletes. Ability to motivate student-athletes. Ability to prioritize practice plans, recruiting and game management. Budget management experience preferred Must be willing to work and travel nights and weekends as the match schedule and recruiting requires. CPR and first aid certification

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

Previous college or university tennis coaching experience College playing experience preferred Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university required; Master’s degree preferred Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
