Position Summary:
Provides leadership, and oversees all coaching duties delegated to him/her for an interscholastic athletic program operating under NJSIAA operating bylaws and regulations. Directs and coordinates all aspects of training, preparing and planning for an athletic competition, fiscal management and program activities.
Qualifications:
1. Hold a valid instructional certificate or substitute certificate. 2. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency. 3. Must hold current CPR/AED/First Aid certifications or be willing to become certified. 4. Have completed or be willing to complete the NFHS required Fundamentals of Coaching course as well as the required concussion, heat illness, Bias, and NJSIAA Be Nice course. 5. Demonstrate knowledge of the sport, training and conditioning, and injury prevention 6. Maintain good standing with primary employer.
Essential Duties:
The Head Coach has the duties and responsibilities commonly associated with this position, including (but not limited to) the following, which are performed directly or through the proper delegation of authority, within the framework of the general laws of New Jersey, the regulations of the NJ State Department of Education, the policies and rules of the Camden Charter School District.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Promote the general welfare of the team and help student athletes achieve both team and personal goals. Promote philosophies and theologies of coaching the sport. Organizes, prepares, and conducts individual and team practices, training and competition in order to properly prepare for week-to-week opponents. • Ability to keep accurate and up to date records concerning attendance and inventory. Directs all aspects, areas and components of the sports team (i.e. defense, offense, and various individual positions. Coordinates strategic aspects of the program. Represent program at various in and out of school events, programs, and responsibilities; including but not limited to student activities groups, parents, and general public. Manages daily operations of their program. Prepare daily practice regimen for said position responsibilities to be incorporated into team practice schedule. Implements various evaluation programs both athletic and academic. Perform miscellaneous job related duties as assigned. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of NJSIAA guidelines and regulations. Ability to lead and guide high school athletes. Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
MUST BE AVAILABLE MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY DURING AFTERSCHOOL HOURS AND ON SOME SATURDAYS FOR PRACTICES AND GAMES.
• Willingness to hold practices and games off site (soccer, bowling).
Evaluation of Performance:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually.
Additional Responsibilities :
Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal or superintendent may assign or delegate.
Computer Skills:
Proficient in computer applications pertinent to support the position.
