Esports Head Coach – Super Smash Bros

Provide leadership and coaching expertise to prepare the team to represent the College in a positive manner at all practice sessions and scheduled Esports contests. Cultivate an environment for the team that promotes success in and out of the classroom, good sportsmanship, open communications, team discipline, and respect for all. Serve as a positive role model for students.
A head coach will be hired for each of the video game titles Brookdale Esports will compete in at the varsity level:
Head Coach -Super Smash Bros
Recruit.
Plan practice activities.
Instruct and coach students in fundamental and advanced skills.
Supervise students and coaching staff during competitive events.
Motivate students toward athletic and academic success. Implement departmental academic enhancement initiatives.
Manage the appropriate equipment and supplies.
Participate in awards, recognition or other related team events.
Comply with rules, regulations, and codes set forth by NJCAAE.
Maintain appropriate records – submission of monthly time reports.
Complete mandatory paperwork for all meal monies in accordance with department and college policy.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education:
Associate degree required or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
Experience:
A minimum of two years of related coaching experience necessary, college level coaching experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong interpersonal and communications skills necessary.
Preferred Qualifications & Special Considerations:
This is a year-round position with fall and spring seasons and responsibilities during the off season. The anticipated time commitment is 6-8 hrs/wk; fewer hours in the off-season.
Must work flexible hours, local and overnight travel required.
