Purpose of Role The Associate Head Coach for Women’s Basketball will support the needs of the Head Coach while being responsible for providing leadership, innovative vision and strategic planning for Daemen Women’s Basketball. Assists the Head Coach in maintaining the annual budget which includes team travel, recruiting, scheduling, promotion of the team and University, fundraising and alumni events, equipment purchase/inventory and community service efforts. About This Opportunity Joining our Athletics team, the Associate Head Coach will be responsible for the following: In collaboration with the Women’s Basketball Head Coach, provides general oversight and direction for day-to-day plans, goals, and activities of the women’s basketball programs. Supervises graduate assistant coach and student managers. Coordinates all aspects of the recruitment of future student-athletes, which includes evaluation of prospective student-athletes both nationally and internationally. Conduct individual in-season and out-of season skill development and conditioning sessions. Serve as the liaison with the department of student success to enforce the team guidelines in regards to academic development. Schedule, plan, organize, and/or conduct summer basketball camp. Develop methods to motivate student-athletes on the court and in the classroom Leads and conducts all team activities and practices if the Head Coach is not present. Watch videos and prepare the coaching staff and team to compete against their opponents. Collaborates with media relations to establish social media platform for Daemen Women’s Basketball Maintains knowledge of University, ECC and NCAA rules to ensure that the team complies fully with rules and regulations. Assist with creating and executing fundraising, alumni and community service efforts. Responsible for game operations for Women’s Lacrosse Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of coaching and teaching techniques and the ability to effectively use them. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary. Ability to drive a personal or college vehicle for the purpose of college business on a regular basis. Ability to travel when necessary. Knowledge of NCAA legislation and recruiting techniques and the ability to effectively use them.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree. 3-5 years of relevant experience at the collegiate level coaching women’s basketball Knowledge and expertise in coaching sufficient to assume the duties of a head coach in the event of a head coaches’ absence from the program. Has demonstrated ability to coach, recruit, create practice plans and game strategies, and run the overall day-to-day operations of the program at the same level as a head coach. Knowledge of NCAA and ECC rules and regulations. Commitment and ability to maintain and exhibit the highest standards of ethical conduct. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate well to individuals from diverse backgrounds. Previous experience as a basketball athlete at the collegiate or professional level . .
