Brooklyn United is a leading competitive dance organization dedicated to fostering talent, discipline, and athleticism. We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Acro, Tumbling, and Gymnastics Teacher to join our team and contribute to the growth of our athletes. This role will focus on developing students’ skills in acro, tumbling, and gymnastics, helping them perform at their best in competition and performance settings.
Responsibilities:
Teach acro, tumbling, and gymnastics techniques to dancers of various skill levels, ranging from beginner to advanced. Develop age-appropriate lesson plans that focus on strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and acrobatic skills. Ensure that safety protocols are followed during all lessons. Prepare students for competitive routines and performances. Offer individual feedback and provide constructive guidance to improve student performance. Assist with choreography and incorporation of acro/tumbling/gymnastics elements into dance routines. Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing professional development as needed. Be Taught:
Acro Skills:
Basic and advanced cartwheels, round-offs, and handstands Front and back handsprings Aerials and aerial cartwheels Backflips and front flips Acrobatic tricks like handsprings, back tucks, and more advanced acro tumbling passes
Tumbling:
Floor drills to build strength, flexibility, and control Tumbling progressions for back handsprings, back tucks, and other acrobatic movements Front tumbling techniques, such as front handsprings and front flips Proper technique for performing safe and effective back and front walkovers Spotting techniques for advanced tumbling moves
Gymnastics:
Handstand and handstand holds Leaps, jumps, and flexibility training Conditioning for strength and flexibility with an emphasis on core, legs, and upper body Balance training (on floor and apparatus) Cartwheel variations and control
Flexibility and Conditioning:
Stretching routines for improving flexibility and range of motion Core strengthening exercises for balance and control Techniques for improving shoulder and hip flexibility to support advanced acro moves Strength training exercises focused on upper body, core, and leg muscles Injury prevention techniques, including warm-up and cool-down routines
Requirements:
Proven experience teaching acro, tumbling, and gymnastics, preferably in a competitive environment. Ability to work with dancers of all ages and abilities. Strong understanding of technique, safety, and injury prevention. Previous experience in a dance or gymnastics studio setting is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. CPR and First Aid certified (or willing to obtain). Passionate about teaching and helping students reach their full potential.
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
