Join us to work hard,do good, and make a lasting difference! Job Description We areseeking an experienced speech or debate coach to guide a rookieteam at Rochester Prep High School. On our students’ paths to andthrough college, nationally recognized competitive programs providean edge for college admissions, but also for college persistence.

The coach will be responsible for all aspects of competition,including identifying tournaments, registration, securing judges,tryouts, motivating and preparing students, and keeping schoolleaders informed of progress. The coaching role is part-time andwill report to the Enrichment Program Manager.

QualificationsPreparation & Practice Time:

Up to 6 hours a week ? Up to 2 hoursper week preparing for Projects, competitions, and after schoolpractices. ? Long-term coaching during “Projects”: Meet withstudents Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1 hour each day, from August toJune. ? On average at least 6 hours of practice outside of schoolhours weekly, working directly with students to prepare forcompetition ? Internal employees who also serve as coaches areresponsible for the preparation and communication about anyabsences caused by team tournaments during their standard workhours

Competitions:

at least 6 weekend tournaments over a 6-monthperiod ? Research and identify appropriate competitions andtournaments. ? Sign up for competitions, in partnership with theschool-based Enrichment Program Manager. ? Coach and travel withstudents to at least all competitions ? At least one competitionshould be nationally recognized (for example, National Speech &Debate Association). These competitions should haveregional/district qualifiers that can lead to competing on thenational scale. ? Chaperone students to at least 2 regional/localcompetitions that take place ahead of the national competition andcan serve as preparation Family Communication ? Because of thesignificant time required for after-school practices, school-basedEnrichment Program Managers and coaches identify team members andconfirm commitment via signed parent permission form indicatingafter-school commitment ? In partnership with the school-basedEnrichment Program Manager, establish a family communicationprotocol using the Remind app to update families about competition,after school practices, and any other time outside of school thatstudents will be doing club-related activities. AdditionalInformation Coaches will receive an annual stipend of $3,500-$4,000based on experience and contracted hours per week, paidsemi-monthly. If at any point during the year, you stop performingthese responsibilities before they are fully completed, for anyreason, your stipend will be adjusted in accordance.
