POSITION SUMMARY

The Head Coach of Men’s andWomen’s Swimming & Diving/Director of Aquatics is a full-timeleadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of thecollege’s NCAA Division III swimming and diving programs, whilealso managing the daily operations of the aquatics facility. Thisdual-role position involves coaching, recruiting, and mentoringstudent-athletes, as well as scheduling, staffing, and ensuring thesafety and maintenance of the pool. The successful candidate willplay a key role in fostering a competitive and inclusive teamenvironment, while also supporting campus and community engagementthrough effective aquatics programming. This position reportsdirectly to the Director of Athletics and works collaborativelywith campus partners to enhance the overall student experience andpromote the health and wellness mission of the college.

POSITIONDUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMPETENCIES

Coaching and ProgramOversight

  • Plan, organize, and administer all aspects of the men’sand women’s swimming & diving programs in accordance with NCAA,conference, and institutional policies
  • Develop and implementtraining programs to enhance individual and team performance,emphasizing academic and athletic success
  • Recruit and retainqualified student-athletes who embody the values and standards ofthe college
  • Monitor academic progress and provide support toensure student-athlete success both in and out of the pool
  • Manageteam travel, competition schedules, budgeting, and equipment needsAquatics Administration
  • Oversee daily operations of the aquaticsfacility, including scheduling, maintenance coordination, andsafety compliance
  • Hire, train, and supervise lifeguards, swiminstructors, and student staff
  • Coordinate with campus departmentsand external partners for facility rentals and usage
  • Maintain allcertifications and ensure compliance with health and safetyregulations Community Outreach and Engagement
  • Develop and leadcommunity-based swim programs, clinics, and youth camps.
  • Fosterpartnerships with local schools, community organizations, andswimming clubs to promote aquatics involvement and awareness
  • Support campus wellness initiatives and increase student, faculty,and staff engagement with the aquatics facility
  • Serve as anambassador for the college and its athletic programs at campus andcommunity events Core Competencies and Skills

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’sdegree
  • 1•2 years experience in collegiate athletics, sportsadministration, or event management•Strong leadership andinterpersonal skills•Excellent organizational, attention todetail, and time management skills•Effective communicationskills, both verbal and written•Ability to multitask andprioritize tasks effectively•Proficiency in using computers andoffice software (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, etc.

  • Possessionof a valid Driver’s License free of major violations
PreferredQualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in sports management,recreation, business administration, or a related field
  • Knowledgeof water filtration and sanitation
  • CPR, First Aid, andLifeguarding (Red Cross) certificates
  • NYC Board of HealthSwimming Pool Operation Technology certificate
  • Equivalentcombination of education and experience

The Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming &Diving Coach/Director of Aquatics is a UUP college year position.
