POSITIONSUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Swim Director or otherassigned associate, Swim Instructor is responsible to teach swimlessons (in compliance with the YMCA of the USA guidelines andlevels), safety, and engagement of swim lesson participants duringthe swim lessons program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible forsafety of all swimmers during lesson and for the interpretation andenforcement of all pool rules Reports to work in uniform a minimumof ten minutes prior to assigned shift in order to receivecommunications and instructions from supervisor Responsible forconducting classes according to the YMCA of the USA AquaticProgram, adapted where necessary for local conditions. Responsiblefor the efficiency of the lesson program through rigorous adherenceto standards set for progression and honest evaluation of student’sabilities. Responsible for attending all scheduled classes within asession; when an absence in unavoidable, secures a substitute andprovides lesson plans for that substitute. Helps to promoteparticipation in the Y Swimming Lessons program. Assist the SwimDirector or other assigned associate with administrative tasksPrepares the program/service area with necessary equipment andreturns all equipment to proper storage. Actively engages, orientsand assists all participants when not actively teaching. Focus onquality experiences and engagement within programs, services, andactivities Promotes a professional image and maintains a clean andsafe environment at all times. Ability to work with diversepopulation, all ages, genders, and sexual orientations Attend andactively participate in all meetings as assigned Incorporate thefour character values of the
