Reports to the head coach and is responsible for specific coaching area as assigned by the head coach. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills to be a positive role model and representative of the university. This position requires the ability to travel extensively on both weekdays and weekends and may be expected to drive university vehicles to practices and competitions.

Responsibilities include: Assist the head track and field/cross country coach in fulfilling all responsibilities associated with successful coaching at the college levelDevelop, recommend, and implement training programs to develop student-athlete skills in association with the head coach and strength & conditioning staffEnsure appropriate safety precautions are takenAssist with student-athlete recruitment as assigned by head coachInstruct student athletes in the fundamentals of the sportAttend all practices and home & away sporting eventsRecommend discipline of student athletes for infractions of rules/regulations and misconductFollow and demonstrate support for all policies and regulations of West Chester University, Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, and the National Collegiate Athletic AssociationAssist the head coach in monitoring the academic requirements of student athletes to ensure satisfactory progress in the pursuit of a baccalaureate degree and a high graduation rateAssist in the organizing and directing of summer camps and other fundraising activities that produce income for scholarship and team related activitiesOrganizing and managing home cross country and track & field meetsPerform other related duties
