Job Summary:
As a staff member of the athletic program under the direction of the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach will supervise all training, practices, and instructional sessions; performance and conduct of athletes; assist in the cultivation and maintaining of a positive team culture and providing a positive experience for the student-athletes and fulfill such other duties associated with the team and athletes as the Head Coach may assign.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Assume complete charge of the team and its operation in the absence of the Head Coach. Be familiar with and subscribe to team philosophy as established by the Head Coach. Scout the play of opposing teams as time and budget permit and as designated by the Head Coach. Teach, enforce, advocate, and model appropriate individual and team behavior at all times. Assist the Head Coach in preparing equipment, supplies, athletic fields and/or the gymnasium and in instructional, training and practice sessions. Assist the Head Coach in operational areas, i.e., distribution of uniforms and equipment, inventory of equipment and supplies, supervision of athletes transported to away events, etc. Recommend the organization and supervision of the areas of responsibility to meet approved objective of the athletic activity. Coordinate all aspects of student eligibility, parental permission physical examinations, and insurance coverage as assigned by the Head Coach. Work with the team to develop a spirit of good sportsmanship and fair play, and establish and maintain the physical fitness and mental alertness of each individual athlete. Assist the Head Coach in developing budgetary requests for the team’s activities. Assist in collecting activity fees associated with the activity by the designated deadlines. The Assistant Coach will be under the direction of, and, accountable to the Head Coach. The Assistant Coach will establish and maintain such other relationships as required to carry out the job responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Some experience coaching the direct sport preferred High school diploma or equivalent necessary
