- This position requires the PA Child Abuse, PA State Police, and FBI Fingerprinting clearances.
- This position requires a pre-employment drug screening test as a condition of employment.
Part Time Casual Employees are hired on a seasonal basis during peak periods, may serve a maximum of four consecutive months (i.e. summer/fall enrollment peak) and are limited to a maximum of 25 hours per week. General Description The assistant coach is responsible for assisting the head coach in all team matters. The assistant coach must actively promote the college and its programs, assist in developing fundraising activities, and recruit students for the college and the intercollegiate athletic program.
Duties:
The coach will assist by… Assisting in the organization and administration of the team
Enforcing the rules of the game for the particular sport
Assisting in planning and conducting all practice sessions
Being the Assistant coach at all home and away games
Driving student athletes in rental vans to and from competitions
Understanding, promoting, and applying the philosophy of the intercollegiate athletic program at Montgomery County Community College
Always setting a good example for the students to follow, and promoting the highest level of good sportsmanship
Counseling and possibly reprimanding students who display unsportsmanlike or unacceptable behavior, such as using drugs and alcohol on campus prior to, during, and following practice sessions and games
Actively recruiting high school students in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania
Cooperating with the Athletic Trainer/medical coverage in evaluating, treating, and rehabilitating injuries
Performing other tasks assigned by the
Director of Athletics Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED in conjunction with previous coaching experience required; associate’s degree preferred
Knowledge of NCAA and NJCAA rules and compliance
Must possess and maintain valid Pennsylvania motor vehicle operator’s license
Valid First Aid and CPR certification are required; if certifications are not current at time of hire, continued employment is contingent upon obtaining these certifications within 2 weeks of hire.
