Job Duties:
The CWS Performance Coach provides technical and professional services to Out of Home Abuse and Neglect (OHAN) unit. Researches available data systems for relevant information to assists in development of best practice improvement innovation for OHAN. Maintains understanding and knowledge of DSS Policy, Agency Mission and Guiding Principles and Standards Practice Model. Provides high quality technical assistance to Child Welfare staff via coaching, mentoring and modeling for the purpose of improving practice that upholds child safety, promotes permanency and increases wellbeing outcomes. Conducts random case reviews to identify practice patterns and monitor continuous quality improvement; and maintains a level of practice consistency throughout OHAN. Facilitates individual and institutional learning of newly certified case managers and Team Leaders through mentoring and coaching for the purpose of increase retention and practice improvement. Analyzes and interpret OHAN data for the purpose of identifying strengths, practice themes and barriers to achieve practice improvement. Facilitates data discussions to identify and gathers information and feedback necessary to improve performance. Researches and analyzes best practice improvement innovations to strengthen case management practice, knowledge, skills, and competencies for Child Welfare/OHAN. Maintains working knowledge of DSS policies and updates. Oversees timely implementation and effective execution of all agency policies by coaching and training staff in policy application, discussing policy changes and updates. Coordinates with Staff Development and Training in the on-boarding support for new hired staff to support and team in the learning process. Provides training facilitation when needed to enhance practice improvement in OHAN Maintains an active routine of self-care and pursues support when necessary to minimize the threat of secondary trauma to physical and mental health. Understands the impact of trauma on families and secondary trauma on child welfare staff and applies principles to support families and staff. Performs Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duty/services as directed. Minimum and Additional Requirements A Bachelor’s Degree and five (5) years of professional experience in social work, management, business administration, administrative services or public administration. A Master’s Degree and three (3) years of professional experience in social work, management, business administration, administrative services or public administration.
