Assistant Coach Volleyball 4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 1900 Belmont Boulevard, Nashville, TN 37212 Job Summary Under supervision of the head coach, assists with coaching duties for the University’s NCAA Division 1 Women’s Volleyball program in such a manner as to build and maintain a competitive, quality program that reflects positively on the image and reputation of the University at all times.
Job Functions:
1. Assists the head coach in organizing, planning, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training various positions, scouting opponents and presenting scouting reports, as well as coaching at matches. 2. Assists the head coach in recruiting activity in accordance with NCAA rules and regulations. 3. Assists the head coach in various operational and administrative aspects of the program, including but not limited to: team travel; scheduling; ordering apparel and equipment; database management, organizing and running institutional camps; fundraising; organizing and coordinating all video needs of the team, etc. 4. Represents the program to various institutional entities and externally to media, government agencies, funding agencies, students, parents, and the general public. 5. Complies with all NCAA, Conference, University, and Department of Athletics policies. 6. The above statements describe the job’s essential responsibilities and requirements. Demonstrated competitive coaching skills in area of sporting specialty. Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes, as well as athletic recruitment methods and techniques. Skilled in evaluating talent in order to recruit players to improve the program Ability to lead and guide Division I student-athletes in area of specialty to include identifying deficiencies and providing instruction to improve overall skill and performance. Ability to build relationships and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in an inclusive community. Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to respond to high-pressure situations. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Skilled in organizing and coordinating. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. Thrives in an environment of teamwork, collaboration, and hard work. Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends. Education Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred. Experience One to three years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. The ideal candidate will have experience playing and/or coaching highly competitive volleyball, preferably at the NCAA Division 1 level.
