Job Description
Head Coach-Volleyball – UT Southern 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars Pulaski, TN Provides leadership and oversees all aspects of the Women’s Volleyball program, to include coaching the team; planning, organizing, and supervising team practices; actively identifying, evaluating, and recruiting top quality student-athletes. Candidate will work within office/department, division and college policies and procedures, the NAIA and Southern States Athletic Conference guidelines. 60% Responsible for recruiting highly competitive student athletes that will thrive under the UT Southern culture that encompasses “WINNING” in the classroom, venue and in the community. Ensure the effective teaching and instruction of all volleyball specific technical skill areas to student-athletes. Coach student-athletes in their growth and development in the sport of volleyball with techniques and fundamentals of their position and sport conditioning. Develop team and individual strategies to have the greatest chance of success within the sport of volleyball, through on court teaching and video instruction. Design instructional programs for the team and individual student athletes on how to implement a game plan as determined for each practice as well as games Monitors and actively encourages student athletes to succeed academically and represent the university with leadership and integrity, both on and off the court. Schedules all team contests; coordinates special events and relevant camps. Supervises and coordinates the work of assistant coach and student assistants Game day management of other sports are possible, or any other duties as assigned, including teaching an activity class. 40% Works in conjunction with the other court sports with scheduling of the floor, setting up and breaking down the court for games and any other duties assigned in the management of the athletic venue. Responsible for successfully managing an annual budget including all necessary fiscal planning. Responsible for all travel arrangements in conjunction with the assistant coach as well as all reconciliation of budget reports and credit card usage reconciliation after travel and or purchasing of gear and/or equipment. Work within the NAIA Compliance mandates to make sure programs and student-athletes are complying with all rules and regulations regarding compliance issues. Promote the volleyball program to the public including media, donors the University community and the general public to increase visibility and revenues for the program. Responsible for fundraising for additional needs for the program when needed. Considerable volleyball knowledge of fitness concepts and techniques. Working knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations. Ability in high level recruiting techniques, knowledge of high school coaches and athletes, and student-athlete concerns. Effective interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written). Strong computer skills in a Windows-based environment (
Microsoft:
Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), including at least intermediate level word processing and spreadsheet development. Ability to work with diverse populations, as part of a team, and collaborate with others. Demonstrated ability to work independently, to maintain confidentiality, and to supervise others. Knowledge of a public university setting and the NAIA. Ability to work with the other court sport coaches to ensure a smooth working environment.
