Job Description
The Head Coach for the Women’s Track and Field, Women’s Cross Country, and Men’s Cross Country is responsible for the recruitment, retention, and training of the sports program. The head coach also oversees the Assistant Track Coach.
The Head Coach (Athletics Coach 2 – MR10) for the Women’s Track and Field, Women’s Cross Country, and Men’s Cross Country is responsible for the recruitment, retention, and training of the sports program.
Responsibilities
Coaching, training, and leadership of all practice and competition operations pertaining to the Women’s Track and Field, Women’s Cross Country, and Men’s Cross Country programs, while also leading coaching staff of the program
Maintains compliance with UTC, SoCon, and NCAA rules and regulations
Organizes and coordinates administrative tasks as assigned including but not limited to team travel, equipment procurement for team, meet schedules, budget assistance, office duties, academics, and maintaining office hours
Attends all practices, meetings, and contests, establishing a good rapport among students, staff, campus constituents, and the community
Works with UTC’s athletics support services team of academic support, nutrition, sports medicine, strength and conditioning, and mental health services to ensure student-athletes are having a well-rounded, positive experience at UTC
Performs recruitment and retention of student-athletes that adheres to UTC’s roster management and Title IX goals
Other duties as assigned, including community engagement visibility, department-wide visibility, marketing and fundraising development of the program
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Proven integrity, leadership skills, and shown ability to motivate student-athletes
Possess good interpersonal skills, be able to communicate effectively and respectfully, and show the ability to work with a various population of constituents
Sound understanding and application of coaching and training of CC/TF student-athletes
CPR/AED Certified
Collegiate or professional running experience

Qualifications
Minimum:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and five years of relevant coaching experience in Cross Country and Track & Field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred:
Five or more years of coaching experience in Cross Country and Track & Field and CPR/AED certification is preferred.
