Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy (CGLA) is seeking a Middle and High School Math and Science Coach to join our team. This position will model, coach, observe, and assist personnel to use research based math strategies with the comprehensive curriculum effectively for instruction and assessment. He/she will facilitate learning activities in the classroom using math strategies and assist with leading and/or co-leading weekly focused, data-driven collaborative professional development sessions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
o Participate and assist, alongside the Principal and Academic Review Committee, in classroom observations and debriefs through school-wide walkthroughs. Coordinate professional development training to support math and science teachers and the CGLA Administration. o Work with the CGLA supervisors, school principal, and school improvement team to assist in accomplishing goals, objectives, and activities indicated on the School Improvement Plan and CGLA Strategic Plan. o Maintain records of information concerning professional development strategies, scheduled classroom visits with teachers, and content planning sessions that progress towards meeting school goals and objectives. o Work with the CGLA school administrators and teachers to identify school and classroom strengths and weaknesses. o Participate in whole faculty study group sessions and weekly collaborative sessions focused on student work and research base teacher instructional best practices. o Assist with the planning and implementation of curriculum nights to share math strategies and offer ways parents can assist their children with math instruction at home. o Maintain a high level of involvement in professional development and monitoring of its use. o Assist and participate in school-wide data team meetings to analyze school data and plan for improvement using strengths and weaknesses as identified. o Reviews a variety of student assessment data to ensure continuous improvement in measurable student performance and achievement as measured by the TN academic state standards. o Assists teachers in disaggregating and analyzing assessment data to help guide instructional decisions to ensure students are receiving grade-level tasks as measured by the TN academic state standards . o Uses assessment data to assist teachers and administrators with placement of students in appropriate instructional or intervention groups. o Monitor use of math and science interventions and assessments. o Attend professional conferences and workshops. o Complete necessary reports and documentation in coordination with professional development as noted in the School Improvement Plan and CGLA Strategic Plan. o Performs all other duties and services assigned by the Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS
o Bachelor’s degree o Valid state of Tennessee teaching certification and 5 or more exemplary years’ teaching experience. o Prior experience teaching music in a middle and/or high school setting is preferred. o Must have the ability to model mathematics and science lessons and assist teachers with math and science professional development strategies through the year. o Pass a criminal background check o CPR/First Aid Certification
