The Assistant Head Coach, in collaboration with the head coach and the athletic director, is responsible for the overall administration of the high school volleyball program. Responsible for all aspects, including discipling and mentoring student-athletes, parent relations, scheduling, travel, and budget. The athletic coach is expected to lead with excellence, fostering a program that embodies the highest standards of conduct and reflects the core values of the Christian Academy of Knoxville.

Requirements:

Executing a consistent and unbiased participant tryout opportunity. Developing and implementing an intentional plan of student athlete discipleship. Maintaining responsibility for expense control with all program expenditures. Responding to Athletic Office informational requests for information pertaining to rosters, scheduling, compliance requirements, and mandatory department meetings. Supervise the activities of the dressing room, including content of conversations, language used, who is entering, and securing the space when not being utilized. Provide consistent program communication with the student athletes and parents. Executing leadership and organization at home and away from football and basketball games. Organizing year-end team banquet. Provide appropriate training, discipline, and coaching that leads to a highly competitive program; evaluate individual student athletes and develop a coaching plan that takes student-athletes to their full potential. Work closely with high school and middle school coaches to build programs and develop coaching plans. Develop individual and team skills through well-planned training and positive reinforcement. Communicate proactively with student-athletes and parents/guardians as appropriate regarding expectations, camps, practices, and game schedules. Supervise student-athletes before and after practices/games. Supervise all areas of participation, including but not limited to gyms, fields, arenas, theaters, locker or dressing rooms, buses, etc. Issue equipment and uniforms to student athletes, ensuring all equipment is maintained properly and uniforms are returned. Attend all games (both home and away) continuing through the conclusion of any post-season tournament(s). Set up facilities in preparation for practice, games, and events. Conduct pre-season conditioning and practices. May be asked to operate school vehicle to games/events. Attend all professional development and coach meetings. Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. Ability to exercise discretion and utmost professionalism in confidential and sensitive student/family matters. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. CPR, AED, First Aid certification. Maintains compliance with all TSSAA rules and regulations. Complies with and supports all CAK policies. Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. The Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) coach must be a spiritually sensitive individual who understands the school’s mission and philosophy. The coach must also be a born-again Christian with spiritual maturity and the academic and leadership abilities necessary to teach God’s truth. Skills in effective communication with diverse individuals, appropriately handling confidential information, and maintaining a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude and integrity in all situations are prerequisites.
