Cycling / Triathlon Collegiate Assistant Coach ATH – Men’s Cycling
Description:
King University is seeking an experienced and passionate Cycling / Triathlon Coach to lead and develop our competitive cycling and triathlon programs. This individual will be responsible for coaching student-athletes, fostering a positive and inclusive team culture, and ensuring the success of both individual and team performances in local, regional, and national competitions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in coaching cycling and/or triathlon at the collegiate or elite level, a commitment to student-athlete development, and the ability to work collaboratively with college staff and athletes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven experience in coaching cycling and/or triathlon at a competitive level.
- Strong knowledge of training techniques, competition strategies, and performance analysis for cycling and triathlon.
- Ability to coach both individual athletes and teams with varying skill levels.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of athletes, coaches, and staff.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel with the team for competitions.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities:
Coaching and Development:
o Assist head coach implementing training programs for cyclists and triathletes, tailored to individual needs while maintaining team cohesion. o Conduct daily training sessions, including skills development, fitness, strength training, and race preparation. o Analyze athlete performance, provide feedback, and adjust training plans accordingly. o Assist head coach with race strategy and course preparation for individual and team events.
Team Management:
o Recruit, mentor, and retain student-athletes for the cycling and triathlon programs. o Help manage the day-to-day logistics of the team, including travel, competition schedules, and practice sessions. o Foster a positive, inclusive, and competitive team environment that promotes academic and athletic success. o Oversee athlete wellness, injury prevention, and recovery strategies in collaboration with athletic trainers and medical staff.
Competition and Performance:
o Guide the team to success in regional and national competitions, including but not limited to collegiate cycling and triathlon events. o Develop race-day strategies, provide on-site coaching during competitions, and offer post-race assessments alongside the head coach. o Analyze race results to inform future training and competition strategies. o Weekend travel to and from competition in the southeast and nationally.
Collaboration and Communication:
o Collaborate with athletic department staff to ensure program compliance with NCAA or applicable governing bodies, as well as college policies. o Communicate regularly with athletes, assistant coaches, and support staff to ensure alignment on goals and expectations. o Engage with college administration and alumni to build community support for the program. o Communicate with recruits in a timely manner.
Administrative Responsibilities:
o Maintain accurate records of team rosters, performance statistics, and training logs in Athletic’s Teams software. o Manage equipment inventory, and team resources effectively. o Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other college-related events as necessary. o Driving team vans when necessary.
