Competition Dance Team – “Once” Section Dance Instructor – In-School Class Period Pope Saint John Paul II is seeking a dedicated and passionate dance instructor to lead the “Once” section of our school’s competition dance team. This section meets during the regular school day and focuses on preparing students for competitive performances, with an emphasis on discipline, technique, and teamwork in a faith-based environment. The dance instructor will prepare our students to compete on a national level. Pope Saint John Paul II Preparatory School is a 6th-12th Grade Catholic School that is part of the Diocese of Nashville. We are committed to the mission of preparing students to become strong in mind, body, character and spirit for the lives of learning and service according to the gospel. Responsibilities:
Teach and rehearse choreographed routines for competition Develop students’ technical dance skills, performance quality, and stage presence Collaborate with the head coach and other team instructors to align on themes and competition goals Incorporate values consistent with Catholic teachings, fostering a respectful and supportive environment Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback Ensure student-athletes uphold academic and behavioral expectations
Qualifications:
Experience in competitive dance (teaching or performing) Strong background in choreography and dance instruction Ability to motivate and mentor high school students Commitment to promoting Catholic values and school mission Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to manage instructional time. Ability to manage student behavior. Ability to consult with parents, teachers, and the community to enhance the learning of students. Ability to monitor student performance. Ability to interact within the educational environment. Ability to perform non-instructional duties as assigned. The Dance Instructor role is a stipend position.
