COACH WOMEN’S SOCCER PART-TIME BASIC FUNCTION
To serve as the Head Women’s Soccer coach. The head coach will be in charge of all aspects of the Women’s Soccer program, including recruitment of quality student athletes, retention, fundraising, conditioning programs, organizing and planning practices and game strategies, and assisting in scheduling contests and coordinating travel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruiting qualified student athletes within the intercollegiate athletic program to ensure compliance with the conference and national rules, establishing practice as well as holding practice sessions, scouting of opponents, preparing for, and coaching during games. Manage and report sports information through telephone and or written communication, including: releasing statistics, and results to the press as well as to conferences sites. Assist with planning and managing program budgets. Assist in schedule and coordinating athletic travel, transportation, and accommodations with the transportation coordinator. Assist in program’s meet schedule with the athletic director. Assist in game management for various athletic events. Distribution, cleaning, and collection of uniforms and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Direct supervision received from the Director of Athletics.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree or a similar combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Valid driver’s license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Knowledge :
Comprehensive knowledge of USCAA rules and regulations. Ability to deal effectively with students, college personnel, as well as professional USCAA compliance network and others outside of the university. Coaching knowledge and experience. General knowledge of Microsoft Office. Understanding of the educational goals and objectives of Vermont State University including attention to accessibility and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Skills :
Strong and varied technical skills and interest in recreational activities. Broad base of knowledge and skills related to athletic facilities, management, coaching, recruiting and other relevant experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Abilities :
Weekend and evening work is required. Demonstrated ability to positively influence student skill development, such as communication skills, leadership skills, academic skills, technical skills, non-cognitive or ‘soft’ skills, and social skills. Demonstrated ability to foster student development in the attainment of student success goals, such as academic purpose, sense of belonging/identity, agency, career readiness, civic readiness, access & equity. Demonstrated positive attitude regarding Vermont State University and a desire to improve student outcomes, including attention to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Demonstrated ability to support a diverse community and promote diverse perspectives, cultures in an inclusive environment.
