Summary:

This is a 9-month, full-time position in the Department of Social Work. The rank and tenure status of position is negotiable based on qualifications. The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic team of social work educators committed to preparing students to assume leadership roles in the profession.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Social Work is home to three levels of social work programming to include a BSW Program, a nationally ranked MSW Program with concentrations in Community Mental Health and Family and Child Welfare, and a Ph.D. in Social Work Program. The BSW and MSW Programs are offered on the main campus in Huntsville, Alabama as well as at its off-site location in Birmingham, AL. For nearly 50 years, the Department has offered continuously accredited social work programs and it is a leading producer of social work professionals in the state of Alabama. With externally funded training programs in behavioral health and gerontology and a cadre of faculty committed to developing the next generation of social work professionals, administrators and educators, the Department of Social Work offers a fertile environment for transformative education and research. The responsibilities of this position include: Teaching face to face and/or online courses;
Research mentoring and advising;
Active engagement in scholarship;
Develop and maintain a program of research; and Providing service to the Department, College, University and to the profession of Social Work. Typical Qualifications
Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
Earned PhD in Social Work or Doctorate of Social Work (DSW)
MSW from a CSWE accredited institution and 2 or more years post-MSW experience Previously earned tenure and promotion to the rank of Associate (as applicable)
