Troy – T01 Job Summary The School of Allied Health at Troy University invites applications for a 12-month, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Exercise Physiology to begin August 1, 2025. Applicants should possess an earned doctorate in Exercise Science/Physiology, Sport Science, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, or a closely related field, or have their degree completed by August 1st, 2025. The Department is seeking a colleague whose teaching and research interests lie in exercise science, strength and conditioning, and human performance. Applicants should demonstrate the potential for publication of scholarly research and extramural funding, and must be eligible to work in the United States. The School of Allied Health is housed in Troy University’s College of Health Sciences. The Department offers bachelor’s degrees in Exercise Physiology, Physical Education, Nutrition, Sport Coaching, and Interprofessional Health Studies, and master’s degrees in Applied Physiology, Physical Education, and Sport Coaching. The Exercise Physiology program has recently been accredited by CAAHEP. There are approximately 600 full- and part-time students across all programs. Tenure-track faculty members are expected to teach a 4/4 teaching load, and will have the opportunity for summer teaching. Applicants for this position should expect to serve as the strength and conditioning coordinator, a new designation, which comes with a course load reduction. Spread across two laboratories in the newly-built Jones Hall, students and faculty in the Department have access to over 3,500 square feet of space housing brand-new equipment for strength testing, aerobic metabolism and body composition measurement, muscle function testing, ultrasound imaging, and hematologic analyses. The candidate hired for this position will be expected to integrate this equipment into their courses (when applicable) and will have shared use of the equipment for research.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The candidate hired for this position will teach undergraduate courses in the Exercise Physiology program compatible with the competencies and knowledge domains required to maintain accreditation with CAAHEP, perform scholarly activities leading to tenure and promotion, and to serve when asked on department, college, and university committees. They will also serve as the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator and will be responsible for heading the process of seeking CASCE accreditation for the Exercise Physiology section. They will also be expected to teach graduate courses in the Applied Physiology master’s program. Summer teaching is available.
Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Exercise Science/Physiology, Sport Science, Kinesiology, Sport Medicine, or a closely related field
OR
Completion of the above-described degree prior to August 1st, 2025
Experience teaching at the collegiate level
Hold a current Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification with the NSCA or soon to be certified (within two years of hire)
