Troy, AL Job Summary The Department of Political Science is accepting applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Political Science, with a concentration in policy studies, broadly defined, beginning on August 1, 2025. The successful candidate for this position must have an active and promising research agenda, and enthusiasm for working with first-generation students in a diverse setting. Preference will be given to applicants who possess strengths in research methodology. This is a ten-month tenure-track position at our Troy, Alabama location. Responsibilities include teaching 12 credit hours per semester (4/4 load; undergraduate; face to face with potential for fully online courses), and maintaining an active research agenda. We are also looking for applicants willing to advise students, perform service outside of our department, and contribute to Troy University’s identity as “Alabama’s International University.” The Department of Political Science at Troy University currently employs fifteen faculty members and we offer Bachelor’s of Political Science Degree, a Master’s in International Relations (MSIR), and a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA). Additional opportunities may arise for the applicant to teach in online courses in one or both of our two graduate programs, and the University offers a wide-range of professional development opportunities to instructors developing and teaching online. Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in Political Science, Public Administration, International Relations, Politics, Government, or related field by time of appointment (August 1, 2025).
